Louth defender Peter Lynch has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL.
The Roche Emmets clubman’s worst fears were realised when a scan confirmed that he had suffered the dreaded injury in last Saturday week’s Allianz Football League defeat to Meath at Croke Park.
Confirming the news ahead of the Wee County's first win over Tyrone in 32 years yesterday, Louth GAA said: “All in Louth GAA are thinking of Senior footballer Peter Lynch and sending him our very best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
“Peter suffered a serious season-ending knee injury during the first half of last Saturday’s National Football League clash in Croke Park. We know how tough this moment must be for him, both physically and mentally, and we want him to know that the entire Louth GAA community is behind him.
“Peter has given so much to Louth football on and off the pitch, and we have no doubt he will tackle this challenge with the same determination and spirit he shows every time he pulls on the jersey. We look forward to seeing him back in action, stronger than ever.”
