Dual star Eoghan O’Donnell will line out for the Dublin footballers rather than the hurlers in 2025.

The former Dublin hurling captain has a brief involvement with the footballers in 2022 after the hurlers exited the championship, but this time the move appears to be permanent, with the Whitehall Colmcille clubman opting to concentrate fully on the big ball code.

The news is a blow to new Dublin hurling manager Niall Ó Ceallacháin who told the Irish Independent: "It's not something that we are very surprised by. Eoghan has been very up front and has had an itch for a long time to have a go at the football and he has taken that opportunity now.

"We wish him well, the footballers well and we will be getting on with things."
