All-Star goalkeeper Rory Beggan has been named in the Monaghan matchday squad for Sunday’s Ulster SFC preliminary round clash with Cavan in Clones (4pm).
The Scotstown net-minder hasn’t featured for the Farney men yet this season, having spent the past few months training in the US and taking part in NFL trials as he looks to secure a contract with a team as a kicker.
However, it had been reported earlier this week that the 31-year-old recently returned to Vinny Corey’s squad in the build up to their home provincial championship opener with the Breffni men.
This morning (Friday) Corey released his 26-man panel for Sunday’s championship derby showdown at St Tiernach’s Park and it confirms Beggan’s return to the set-up.
Elsewhere, fellow All-Star Conor McManus is named in the team’s full-forward line alongside Jack McCarron and David Garland while Gary Mohan and Darren Hughes start at centre-field.
