Ciaran Whelan says Dublin need to “need to bed somebody down” to partner Brian Fenton at centre-field.
Thus far this season, both Tom Lahiff and Brian Howard have played alongside the Raheny man in in different games in the middle of the park and, speaking to the RTE GAA podcast, Whelan believes the Dubs would benefit better from having a "full-time partner" alongside Fenton.
"They need to bed somebody down," he said. "Whether that's Lahiff or Howard we'll see. Howard was excellent against Donegal, got three great scores and fielded a few great balls.
“They need to commit to somebody in that role and stick with them. Fenton needs that support this year."
On the current depth of the Dubs’ squad, Whelan added: "Have they developed that depth throughout the league campaign for a serious tilt when it comes to the final 15 minutes and you have to bring fellas off the bench?
"That to me is the biggest question mark hanging over them."
