Ladies final ticket saga disappointing - Staunton

Mayo legend Cora Staunton has expressed her disappointment with the fact that upcoming All-Ireland ladies senior football final is being overshadowed by issues around ticket distribution.

The clash between defending champions Dublin and neighbours Meath takes place next Sunday week, September 5th at Croke Park (throw-in 3.45pm), where 40,000 spectators will be permitted to attend.

Tickets for the game went on sale on Wednesday morning via Ticketmaster and there have since problems with large queues online and further difficulties for many that got to the top of those queues.

The LGFA issued a statement on Wednesday to outline that it was working to resolve the issues with Ticketmaster and, speaking to RTÉ's Morning Ireland programme, Staunton expressed her disappointment at the issue ahead of the biggest day on the ladies football calendar.

"It's disappointing that nine days out from the biggest day in the ladies football calendar that we're talking about a saga and a ticket saga, so it's obviously disappointing," said the four-time All-Ireland winner.

"I first heard it through social media on Wednesday when tickets were released and you could see that there were a lot of angry people on social media that they get to the top of the queue and they could be in a queue of 3,000 people and they get to the top of the queue and get re-directed back.

"And then later in the day, because I'm on the executive of our club here, I received an email, I think it was around 5.30pm on Wednesday evening, with the statement that it's gone through a manual system and the LGFA will obviously be dealing with tickets from there.

"It's disappointing, with the Ticketmaster there have been a few issues in relation to the men's match. I know the Dublin v Mayo match and the Offaly Under-20 match there had been a few technical difficulties but they have been able to be resolved."
