'James is as good as there is in the country'

Stephen O’Hanlon heaped praise on his Carrickmacross Emmets clubmate James Maguire following a dramatic Monaghan SFC victory over Inniskeen on Saturday.
Maguire scored 0-9 as last year’s intermediate champions came from nine points down to edge out their local rivals on a 1-21 to 2-17 scoreline and seal their place in the knockout stages. The Louth star, who transferred from Westerns last year, kicked three two-pointers which were supplemented by two from Monaghan ace O’Hanlon and another from substitute Donnach Swinburne after Conor Jones’ goal at the start of the second half had looked to have last year’s senior finalists out of sight.
“James is as good as there is in the country in my opinion… we’re absolutely delighted to have him,” O’Hanlon gushed in an interview with reporter Jack Madden.
