Goals key as Tipp defeat Limerick to move into Munster MHC final

Tipperary saw off Limerick by 2-13 to 0-16 at the TUS Gaelic Grounds last night (Thursday) to secure their spot in the Munster minor hurling championship final.

Goals from Goals from Rian McGrath and Ollie Roche made the difference for the Premier County as they advanced to the southern province’s decider with a still to go.

After a strong start in Limerick saw them running up a 0-4 to 0-0 lead, it was points from Shane Ryan and Conor Kennedy that saw Tipp holding a 0-9 to 0-7 advantage at half-time.

McGrath found the Treaty lads’ net two minutes into the second-half and Conall Morrison’s point would increase the Tipp lead to six by the 41st minute.

Limerick responded with a Shane Waters point, but it’d wiped out by Roche’s goal which made it an eight-point game with just over 15 minutes remaining.

The Shannonsiders fought to the finish as points from Waters (3), Diarmuid Crowe and Eamon O’Sullivan brought them to back within three, but James Woodlock's lads saw out the win to secure their Munster final spot.
