Clogher were one-point winners over Emyvale in Roslea

Clogher Éire Óg are Ulster club junior football champions after securing a late 1-12 to 0-14 victory over Emyvale in Roslea this afternoon.

Captain Conor Shields was the hero for the Tyrone side as his point deep in injury-time proved the difference between the teams in the end as the Éire Óg claimed a first provincial success.

It was the Monaghan champions that made a dream start to this decider at the Fermanagh venue, running up an 0-8 to 0-2 lead after 20 minutes with Conor Forde and Niall McKenna landing a couple of two-pointers for them.

The scores of Ciaran Bogue and Jamie Callaghan helped Clogher claw their deficit back two one by half-time (0-8 to 0-7) and they’d storm in front with a Bogue goal two minutes into the resumption.

Emyvale got back level another two-point free from ‘keeper Forde pushed them ahead again before a brace of frees from Bogue made it 1-11 to 0-13 approaching the hour mark.

McKenna (free) squared the sides in the third minute of injury-time and extra time looked like it was on the way at Shamrock Park until a late intervention from Shields sealed Clogher the Paul Kerr Cup success.
