Frankie Dolan has ruled himself out of the running to be the next Monaghan senior football manager.

The former Roscommon sharpshooter is set to continue as assistant to Oisín McConville in Wicklow in 2027. McConville has committed to another season in charge of the Tailteann Cup champions after he too was linked with the Farney County vacancy following Gabriel Bannigan’s surprise decision to step down last week.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Dolan said his only focus at the moment is on his Abbeylara side’s Longford SFC quarter-final against Longford Slashers on Saturday week.

“I’m still involved with Oisín as far as I know this year unless Oisín doesn’t want me there,” he commented.

“I’m just concentrating fully on Abbeylara. I’ll just worry about getting these lads ready for a quarter-final.”
