Naas have decided not to appoint Rory Gallagher to their senior football backroom team.

The controversial former Fermanagh, Donegal and Derry manager was set to join the four-in-a-row Kildare football kingpins as head coach in a management team which also includes outgoing manager Joe Murphy along with Padraic Cribben, Kevin Martin, Martin Sweeney and Fionn Higgins.

But Naas have now opted against proceeding with the appointment following a backlash from some club members and supporters. Gallagher was forced to step down as Derry manager just days before the 2023 Ulster SFC final when allegations of abuse were made by his estranged wife, Nicola, which he strongly denied.
