Former All-Ireland football final referee Eddie Kinsella has been appointed as the new manager of Westmeath club Tyrrellspass.

Since his retirement from officiating at inter-county level in 2016, Kinsella, who took charge of the 2014 All-Ireland SFC decider between Kerry and Donegal, has managed his native Courtwood to Laois IFC success, guided the Laois U20's to the Leinster final and most recently he has been at the helm at Wicklow outfit Tinahely.

It's been 17 years since Tyrrellspass last tasted Westmeath SFC glory, winning back-to-back titles under Pat Flanagan, who incidentally, has taken the reins of fellow Flanagan Cup contenders Caulry for the coming year.
