Darragh Canavan is expected to return from injury for Tyrone’s Ulster SFC semi-final against Armagh on Saturday week.

The Errigal Ciarán attacker wasn’t risked in last Sunday’s quarter-final win over Cavan due to a hamstring issue, but Malachy O’Rourke is hopeful he will recover in time to line out against the All-Ireland champions.

“Darragh just picked up an injury, a leg injury, and right up until the weekend we were hoping that he might be able to play but we took the medical advice,” the Tyrone manager explained to reporters.

“They said it was too big of a risk so we’ll just have to see what way he is this week. Obviously we’d be delighted to see him back, but we can’t risk him either because he is so important and you have to have a duty of care to the players as well.

“We’ll just see how he is this week and see how he progresses over the next couple of weeks.”
