Last Sunday’s abandoned Walsh Cup tie between Galway and Offaly won’t be rescheduled.

Galway were leading by 4-15 and 1-11 at Glenisk O’Connor Park when referee David Hughes decided to call a halt to proceedings in the 55th minute after consulting with Galway manager Henry Shefflin and his Offaly counterpart Johnny Kelly.

While accepting that Offaly were headed for defeat, Kelly was keen for the game to be refixed, being of the opinion that another game in the pre-competition would benefit his side ahead of the Allianz League. But with Galway in action again this Sunday against Laois, they had no desire to play a re-fixture this week and Offaly have now agreed to let the result stand.
