The jersey worn by Graeme Mulcahy in this year’s All-Ireland SHC final is being auctioned off to raise funds for the development of a new all-weather facility at his old primary school.
The five-time Liam MacCarthy Cup winner has donated his signed 2023 All-Ireland winning jersey to Scoil Mocheallóg in Kilmallock where he learned to hurl under the stewardship of Michael Barron and John Aherne. A bid of €600 was placed on the jersey within 24 hours of the auction being announced.
“Graeme has fantastic memories of school hurling and was delighted to hear of the development of the new all-weather facility that will benefit the young people of today and allow the future pupils of Scoil Mocheallóg access to a state-of-the-art, all-year round playing surface,” the school said.
The jersey is being auctioned on the Scoil Mocheallóg Facebook page, while bids will also be accepted on 087 7806523.
It was confirmed this week that the 33-year-old forward will be on board again in 2024 when John Kiely’s men bid for an unprecedented five-in-a-row.
