Mayo GAA has extended its sympathy to former county footballer Conor Diskin on the sudden passing of his baby son, Cillian.
The 10-month-old from Cong died suddenly on Saturday. He is survived by his mother Zoe, father Conor, sister Emily-Kate and extended family.
Conor Diskin is a star player for Claremorris who has represented Mayo at every level and won an Allianz League medal in 2019.
“Mayo GAA are saddened to hear of the passing of baby Cillian Rochford Diskin RIP. Cillian is the son of former Mayo footballer Conor Diskin,” the county board said in a social media post.
Claremorris GAA has also offered its condolences to the Rochford and Diskin families.
“Claremorris GAA club expresses heartfelt condolences to Conor and Zoe and to the Diskin and Rochford families at this time of great sadness and overwhelming grief. The sudden loss of baby Cillian (ten months) has shocked the region and the heartache and pain that the family is coping with now must be almost unbearable.
“The hearts of all go out to Conor and Zoe and their families in these darkest of times for all of them.”
