Rob Kearney in action for Western Force's will swap the oval ball for the O'Neills size 5

Cooley Kickhams prospects in this year’s Louth IFC have been boosted considerably by the acquisition of former Ireland rugby star Rob Kearney to their playing ranks.

Local radio station LMFM is reporting that Kearney – who played minor football for Louth back in 2003 – has returned to his roots and could feature for the Kickhams in a league game against St Fechins this Sunday.

Kearney last lined out for the peninsula outfit in the 2004 Louth SFC final derby defeat to St Patrick’s as an 18-year-old before committing his future to the oval ball code.
