Ulster champions Scotstown are amongst the teams on duty this weekend in Round Three of the Monaghan senior football championship.

As the competition starts to heat up, the Mick Duffy Cup winners of the last three years entertain Latton at 2pm on Sunday, having comfortably despatched Carrickmacross away in their Group One opener on August 9th. Rory Beggan, Kieran Hughes, Max Maguire and Jack McCarron all sat out that one but Conor McCarthy was in impervious form, slotting 1-4 and dictating proceedings.

This will be Latton’s third outing in the group stage and they are still in search of their first victory after shipping losses to Inniskeen in Round One and Carrick’ last weekend.

Having been pipped at the death by Clontibret in the first round before beating ‘Blayney on the road, Magheracloone host Cremartin (who’ve lost to both Corduff and Truagh) on Saturday afternoon (3.30), while Saturday evening’s meeting of Clontibret and Castleblayney Faughs (who drew with Truagh first time out before that defeat to Magheracloone) promises to draw a huge crowd to O’Neill Park for a 6:30 throw-in.

Another eagerly-awaited clash where there’ll be no love lost on Sunday sees Carrickmacross Emmets – who bounced back from their loss to Scotstown by getting the better of Latton – welcome neighbours Corduff (winners against Cremartin but beaten by Inniskeen) to the south county town (5pm).
