This weekend’s Nickey Rackard Cup semi-final between Mayo and New York has been postponed by 24 hours.

The fourth-tier knockout clash had originally been scheduled to take place on Saturday at TEG Cusack Park at 2pm, but poor weather conditions saw New York’s flight from JFK Airport to Ireland last night (Thursday) cancelled at short notice. As a result, the visitors will fly out on another flight tonight instead and arrive in the country on Saturday morning.

As this would give Richie Harnett’s side only hours to get to Mullingar and play the fixture, Mayo have agreed to postpone the game to the following afternoon.

It has now been confirmed that the semi-final will take place at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park at 2pm on Sunday, with the winners set to face Tyrone in the competition’s final.

A win for New York at the newly appointed Longford venue would see them staying in Ireland to play the final at Croke Park on Saturday week, May 30th.
