Davy Burke cut a contented figure after Roscommon secured the point they needed against neighbours Westmeath to go straight back up to Division 1 of the Allianz Football League.

While disappointed to surrender a 12-point lead, the 2-16 to 1-19 draw at TEG Cusack Park was enough to see the Rossies secure their fifth promotion to the top flight since 2015.

"Job done, although maybe we went the roundabout way," the Roscommon manager said in an interview with RTÉ.

"As a group, we weren't happy with our performance last weekend (against Cavan). We didn't meet our standards, it's as simple as that.

"We discussed it and went through it, and I'm delighted with the reaction. We were good for 45-50 minutes today, but we've more work to do, moving forward.

"We were disappointed last week, we're much happier today, and we still have plenty more to go."

Roscommon can now look forward to a Division 2 final against Monaghan in Croke Park next Sunday, followed by a quick turnaround to their Connacht SFC opener against London in Ruislip the following Saturday.

"It is difficult, we're going to have to balance it now. We're happy, we've a game in Croke Park next weekend and we'll roll on,” Burke added.
