Tipperary football boss Philly Ryan says he expects to have a couple of his key players back for their Munster championship opener against Waterford early next month.

Tipp had to make do without team captain Steven O’Brien, Cathal Deeley, Sean O’Connor, Luke Boland and others for last Saturday’s defeat to Wexford in the Allianz League.

The result has left the Premier men out of contention for promotion to Division 3 ahead of this weekend’s final round of games, which sees Wicklow coming to Clonmel on Sunday (1pm).

After that, all focus switches towards championship duty, with Ryan’s men set to host Waterford in their provincial quarter-final at Semple Stadium on April 5th.

“That will be the target for a few fellas,” he is quoted saying by Tipp FM Sport.

“We’d hope to have some back out of the garage next week and maybe a few more the week after.

“We’d be confident that we’d have a few of them right and ready to go.”
