The funeral details for the late John O’Mahony have been announced.
The two-time Galway All-Ireland SFC winning manager, who also had spells in charge of his native Mayo and Leitrim as well as numerous club teams, passed away over the weekend after a battle with cancer. He also served as a Fine Gael TD for Mayo from 2007 to ’16 and subsequently sat on the Seanad.
John will repose at his home in ‘Tower House’, Market Street, Ballaghaderreen today (Tuesday, July 9) from 4pm to 8pm and Wednesday (July 10) from 3pm to 6pm - house private at all other times.
Removal will take place on Wednesday (July 10) for prayers at 8pm in the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Cathedral on Thursday (July 11) at 12pm midday. Burial will follow in Kilcolman Cemetery, Ballaghaderreen.
The 71-year-old will be greatly missed and remembered by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, extended family, the GAA community and his many colleagues and friends.
