Johnny Glynn has lost his appeal against a one-match ban arising from a controversial incident which took place during Ardrahan’s Galway SHC Round 3 clash with Sarsfields last Sunday week.

The 2017 All-Ireland SHC winner was handed a retrospective ban by Galway CCC after video footage appeared to show him making contact with the neck of Darren Morrissey while pinning the Sarsfields corner back to the ground just before half-time. Glynn was eventually dragged away and both players were issued with yellow cards.

But Galway CCC decided to take further action against Glynn which he appealed to the Galway Hearings Committee. However, the appeal was thrown out, meaning the former Galway hurler will miss Ardrahan’s SHC preliminary quarter-final against Clarinbridge this Saturday barring a successful appeal to the Galway Appeals Committee.
