Republic of Ireland's Niamh Fahey

Former Galway ladies football star Niamh Fahey will become only the fourth Republic of Ireland female soccer player to win 100 caps later today.

The 35-year-old Liverpool player will join Emma Byrne, Ciara Grant and current team-mate Aine O'Gorman in the Centurion Club when she lines out against Poland in the Pinatar Cup in Spain this afternoon.

A sister of 2001 Galway All-Ireland SFC winning captain Gary Fahey, Niamh made her debut for the national side in 2007, three years after she won an All-Ireland senior ladies football medal herself. The Killannin woman was presented with a special gold cap by Ireland manager Vera Pauw and FAI president Gerry McAnaney ahead of the game in La Manga.
