Oisin McConville doesn’t expect Covid to wreak havoc with GAA fixtures this year like it did in 2020 and 2021.

The pandemic has already resulted in the postponement of the first inter-county game of the game of 2022 between Waterford and Clare in the McGrath Cup, which was due to be played yesterday, but McConville doesn’t think it’s a sign of things to come.

"I would hope that things would improve from here," the former Crossmaglen and Armagh sharpshooter told Radio Ulster's Sportsound.

"I would hope that, certainly by the end of January, when the league starts, we'll be good to go and we won't have any postponements or cancellations."

He continued: "Let's face it, when I look at Premier League teams calling games off, most inter-county teams are carrying 45 or close to 50 players.

"So we should be able to fulfil fixtures and there should be an onus on us to do that where we can."
