All Refs are Human and and have a life outside GAA - 2 Like(s)

Replying To kawaifive0:  "Load of nonsense spouted here by lads who definitely would run a mile if offered a whistle, some of the posters refer to mistakes not being acceptable, referees being egotistical, referees being arrogant, how on earth would you know such things from simply observing a referee, those qualities are surely only known by people close to them, another poster referred to referees not being on the end of personal abuse, some laugh, it's a national past time abusing GAA referees, referees train, attend seminars, perform a thankless job, get nothing for it, posters here should try to do a referees' course and then start at local level and they would soon change their tune, I've been doing it for many years, thoroughly enjoy it, great enjoyment but give us a break."
Outstanding post. The lack of understanding from the so called "experts" here is embarrassing. I'm reffing for 5 years so I'm one of the few people on here who actually knows what he's talking about. All it takes is for the idiots on this forum to go ref a couple of adult league games and they'll then re-think everything negative they said about refs for the last 20 years. I personally guarantee it.

Media Mayo Mourning - 1 Like(s)
I think it's because there's a general feeling nationally that Dublin didn't win on Sunday; rather Mayo lost it. And the historical significance of it may be felt for decades as the chasm between the haves and have nots grows ever wider. This was the worst loss for Mayo since 1996 as (in general football terms) they were far superior to Dublin on the day but did not make it count on the scoeboard especailly at crucial junctures (e.g. Aidan O'Sheas stupid wide from 50 metres on sideline directly after Lee Keegan's goal). Dublin payed very poorly, they lost McCaffrey in first 5 minutes (massive loss) but Mayo still couldn't find a way to get over the line. Moran, Boyle and Higgins are all likely to retire now without the elusive All Ireland medal. And there's a certain tragedy to that in neutral people's eyes.

Limerick are massive bandwagon jumpers. You have the hardcore followers (about 2 or 3k people) who go with them through thick and then but any sniff of success whatsoever and along come another 25-30k. I would say Waterford are the best myself as they continually bring massive crowds despite a lot of massive beatings/setbacks in recent years. Even in Thurles last wknd they outnumbered each of Clare, Wexford and KK by 2 to 1.

From a financial/sponsorship perspective, no-one will go near him due to his extremist views on "Black & Tans", Celtic, IRA etc not to mention his childish slating of Rory's Stories et al and constantly giving oxygen to online trolls (instead of just ignoring them). He's just too much of a loose cannon from a sponsor's perspective.
