Cork defender Matty Taylor’s season is over after suffering a cruciate ligament injury while on club duty recently.
EchoLive.ie reports that Taylor sustained the injury while on duty for Mallow against Kanturk last Sunday week, leaving him now facing surgery and a lengthy spell on the sidelines after that.
The wing-back had only recently returned from a shoulder injury he picked up while playing in the Rebels’ Allianz League clash against Kildare in March.
His return was viewed as a boost for Leesiders boss John Cleary, who is currently preparing his squad for an All-Ireland SFC Round 2A meeting against Donegal on Saturday week.
However, Taylor’s return has now been cut short as he gets set to undergo surgery next week.
