Last Saturday’s Littlewoods Ireland League Division 1 camogie clash between Tipperary and Offaly in Bansha was notable for having sisters named on opposing panels.

While Aisling Brennan started for Offaly, her sister Ciara was named among the Tipperary subs. The siblings play their club camogie with St Cillian’s, which is a sister club of Carrig & Riverstown Hurling Club on the Offaly-Tipp border.

St Cillian’s also had Clare Hogan lining out for Tipperary and Siobhan Killeen featuring at corner back for Offaly. The novelty of a club represented on both sides was further evident with Moneygall supporters having divided loyalties with Mary Ryan playing for Tipp and Mairead Teehan, Catriona Doughan and Edwina King lining out for Offaly.

Tipp ran out comfortable 4-21 to 1-5 winners over an Offaly side minus their St Rynagh’s contingent, who beat Gailltir of Waterford on the same day to qualify for the Covid-delayed 2021 All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Club Championship final.
