As it stands, tonight's game is going ahead.

Pitch inspection in the last hour passed and a check at 2pm to ensure things haven't worsened should see game played as planned.

Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "I'm not saying over sanitise it. But that ref definitely lost that game. You know those games when you can just tell a brawl is coming? This was it. You could feel it throughout the 1st half when he didn't penalise players up to things. No one wants the game sanitised, we love a hard and manly game played well. Pulling and dragging and all the sorts that went on is not that though. And they knew they'd get away with it and they did. The ref not stamping that stuff down let that 2nd half go the way it did"
Yes that's fair enough. I wouldn't agree but most of the people I've spoken to this week would be of the same opinion as yourself.

Game looks good so far for tonight. A cold evening in store with a northerly wind. Might not be a classic

Its going ahead and yes it might not be a classic giving the conditions.

I think we might have enough but we need to remember that Meath had no real preseason done and they are improving. They finished well against Louth and Kildare when the game was up for grabs and we tend to be hanging on at the end for the last few games. Maybe empty the bench a little earlier.. Any word on McVeety?

Ryan Brady in for Oisin Kiernan. Goes to half back, Carolan to full back line. The rest the same as last day. Conor Brady in subs but no McVeety or Oisin Castlerahan

Worst half from a cavan team since Omagh 2021. So so poor.

As bad a half I saw us play in years. Bad decisions, bad passing, bad shot selection, the whole lot. Can only get better and lot of work to do here at half time

Tight going. Got the draw. Could have won it, could have lost it in that injury time. 2nd half far better. The pitch looked very heavy and dead in a few places after all the weather and was tough moving quickly. Take it and move on into a week break

How we got a draw from that I'll never know. Both sides poor but our first half took the biscuit.
Produce that v Armagh and we'll take a hammering.

Positives? Faulkner. The bit of fight in the 2nd half. Grabbing a point we didn't deserve.

Won't go into the negatives but massive improvement needed.

Second half was better but first half was terrible. Meath missed 2 good goal chances in the second half. 2 good saves by O Rourke in fairness. A few of the forwards not getting into the game but the passing from deep was poor , high balls lumped in.

After watching that we would give the tailteann cup a good rattle this year if we were in it we would not win it as you need to perform in the two halves of every match to win most of them

We can't get relegated, and don't think we could even drop to 6th. We're in Sam almost guaranteed, and we shouldn't even be talking of the Tailteann. We need to be looking up, and playing the best, and not in that. Even allowing for poor 1st halves, we're currently above that level. We need to be playing Sam and I can't wait for it

I thought it was a bit harsh taking off Oisin Brady last night, he could have taken off lots in the first 20 minutes , he won't develop into a top inside forward which he is potentially capable off sitting on the line. Killian Brady I thought had a great game and Brian O'Connell.

Neither himself or Lynch showed for ball in the first half. Lynch is the free taker (and a bloody good one) so it was Oisin to come off. Harsh, but good to see a ruthless side to Ray.

Cavan were too slow building up the ball and when they did give it was poor quality passing. Brady wasn't that bad. Caoimhin Reilly came on and taken off. He needs to be careful not to ruin players confidence.

I thought so too. Oisin needed watching, and with him off Lynch couldn't get free as they knew we had no other options. I thought he should have been given time to come into it, or bring on Cormac O'Reilly. Smith was lucky after a poor 1st half with many mistakes, but definitely made up for it with 2 points 2nd half. You better not give me an excuse to wax lyrical about Gunner Brady, he was great last night again alright. Loving what O'Connell is bringing too. I've a feeling we're close to clicking when we do it for longer all over the field. McVeety and Kiernan hopefully back soon might sort that.

Agree with the praise of Gunner. He's in the form of his career and his hit on Keogan early on was probably our highlight of the first half.

No fault whatsoever of his or Carolan (who has been the find of the last 12 months) but our full back line was left badly exposed last night and a better team would've run up a cricket score.

I do agree the passing into the forward line wasn't good, but there's no excuse being behind your man every time. Ray had to do something to shake it up and leaving experience on the field told in the 2nd half.

Another thing I picked up on. . We twice fisted the ball across goal (first couple of mins and last couple of mins) and fingertips from the meath full back stopped James Smith tapping in for 2 goals. What we were missing on both occasions was somebody arriving late into the penalty spot to come on to the ball. It's something I think could be developed in the likes of Cian Madden who seems to read the game well.

Yeah, it would take a strange set of results for us not to be in Sam. (Both in the last 2 league games and in championship)

It looks currently like all Div 2 teams will be in it, other than the 2 relegated. So top 14 in the league plus leinster and munster finalist.
Can't see Connacht championship changing that, the top 3 are way ahead of the rest.
In Ulster, something like Fermanagh or Down upsetting Armagh would cut 1 league place off (3rd bottom of division 2).

In short it ain't happening. So pressure is off. 2 wins gets us promotion. Sole focus.
