Would The Gaels Be Cavans Greatest Club In Past 20 Years

I have to take issue with Declankillen and Breffni Park about Cavan Gaels being a hindrance to Football in Cavan. I must say that the reason that the Gaels did not do well outside of Cavan in the past 20 years was because of the poor standard of opposition that the Gaels had within Cavan. The poor Gaels players were playing junior standard the Gaels won many games at ease and when they went out in Ulster faced the first real test. So dont blame the Gaels
blame poor opposition within Cavan......."
With the standard of club football so low in Cavan at present one can only assume the Gaels are now completely useless seeing they couldn't even make the county Final….

I don't see you posting congratulations to denn on winning the Ulster junior final, but you have always something bad an negative to cry about

I suppose football is so bad in Cavan at the moment even winning an Ulster JUNIOR club title is not to be sniffed at and ends a good year for Denn…. I wouldn't be getting to over excited about it to be honest

Tomsmith here

I have to say that the Gaels have been unsarcastically weak this year. But one has to look at the Gaels club or indeed Cavan Town who have all sorts of problems hoisted upon them. The Gaels have done wonderfull work in a Social capacity ( Look what the Club did during the lockdown ) for the now residents . I feel that the Gaels are the best Club in the past 20 years and will be for the next 20 years

Tom, based on Championship results, final appearances, and wins, the Gaels aren't even the best team of the last 10 years. They were the best team of 2001 to 2011, but bar the odd title, not since 2012. You could argue more for Castlerahan or Ramor. What's with the arbitrary 20 year timeframe anyway?

I have respect for junior posters who ask questions that are irrelevant, but I consider your question well intended.
That question.. Why the arbitrary 20 years.
Well I can tell you that when that was posted it was an anniversary between my self and the great Mrs T who I am so so proud off

Forever Blue and Blueman ( Combined posts arout 2000,
Both of you are negative.
I recall when the Gaels played junior football and everyone looked up to the Bi Town team playing Junior Football,
A small local Parish like Den are doing fantastic work promoting the game and indeed had some good quality plaers in the past. I thinking of Paddy Gaffney . A classical Den players .
So keep up the good work and dontlet any of your stra players be looking to transfer to the Gaels

Replying To Longfordgaamad:  "I am not from Cavan but do know Cavan fairly well. I agree with some of your points but the say Cavan town is within 2/3 miles from Butlers Bridge, Ballyhaise, Denn and Bellanagh, is crazy. Butlers Bridge 11Km, Ballyhaise 12km, Denn 10km and Bellanagh 9km from Cavan town centre.
But I don't agree with splitting clubs, its a cop out for teams who cant get to the same level. And even for people to say Gaels aren't Cavan's greatest because they haven't won Ulster is also crazy. You are calling them Cavan's greatest not Ulster's Greatest. They have won 10 in the last 20 years I think. no 1 else have won more that 2 so its a no brainer that in the last 20 years Cavan Gaels are Cavan's best team but ya cant be surprised that your rivals find that hard to accept."
Replying to Longford Gaa mad of 12 posts

Tomsmith here a senior poster who supports Cavans best team in the past 20 years ie Cavan Gaels

Lonford Gaa Mad.. You make a lot of sense with nthis post as a poster who has posted only 12 posts under this handle ( many more elsewhere) you are right on the money when you say that and I quote you verbatim.....for people to say that the Gaels arent Cavans greatest Club because the havent won Ulster is also crazy ..... so Tomsmith back live to you again I say we yes we the Cavan Gaels Club is Cavans fin est in the past 20 years
