I see there are still plenty of tickets available for today's game in Omagh…. Hardly a surprise ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3027 - 10/07/2021 08:46:15 2358230 Link 0 |
U20s were outclassed last night. The underage teams have really fallen away from the time of winning 4 in a row. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 10/07/2021 09:26:38 2358235 Link 0 |
Will you go lad or will you be sitting by your keyboard ready to write the postmortem?

No 'lad' I will watch it on Sky Sports…. Hopefully they will put up a decent show to erase some of the embarrassment of being relegated to the depths of Division 4…..

Pathetic, last year was a covid fluke. No point in getting rid of the management, the players just aren't good enough. CavanAgain (Cavan) - Posts: 196 - 10/07/2021 18:17:49 2358330 Link 1 |

Embarrassing 24 hours, exit both U20 and senior without a whimper. How could we look so tired in the senior game, all county players held back from club games since resumption of games, would they have been better playing, wonder did Tyrone allow county players to play in club games?? Who would you replace him with, if he did go? I think it's a serious case of careful what you wish for. I've no doubt he spoke with the county board about how he planned to blood young players during the league. Yes, it backfired terribly, but I think if his brief next year was promotion first, then face Ulster when it comes, then he'd approach it differently and we'd get promoted comfortably. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5193 - 10/07/2021 19:26:57 2358364 Link 2 |
So it would take the 4th year of the reign to take the League serious? Jesus. And I don't see Cavan doing anything confortable

It depends if Mickey Graham wants to stay on or not, If he stays on then he'll be looking to get promotion and reaching a Ulster final to avoid playing in Tailtean Cup FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 10/07/2021 20:07:32 2358382 Link 0 |
This is surely the worst defence of an Ulster title in history? Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 575 - 10/07/2021 20:16:14 2358384 Link 2 |
The game panned out near enough to what was expected…. I wouldn't rate this Tyrone team too highly but they are light years ahead of us….. Cavan did not look near fit and had shot their bolt after 25 minutes… How on earth did Mickey and his management team think it appropriate to start a player ( Moynagh ) in the 1st round of an Ulster Championship when he hasn't played a game in nearly 2 years…! Bonkers stuff.. Our full forward line again were woeful and the vastly overrated Madden made no impact when introduced… With Pat Faulkner saying it's the worst season in the history of GAA in Cavan that should be more than enough for Mickey Graham to consider his position….. Disappointed with the game today, I thought we would have made it a better contest. But being honest, I think the ulster final win last year really was papering over the cracks. Lets not fool ourselves thinking that we were a dominant force in ulster even last year, yes we got across the line (which in itself was great achievement) but I feel that there was a lot of luck in a number of games leading up to the final. We were down by 7 against Monaghan and 10 to Down at points during the campaign, and I felt we struggled to get across the line against Antrim. I think the Donegal performance was the best I've seen in recent/not so recent years but you can't help wondering if Donegal overlooked us based on what happened the year before. Tyrone away was always going to be a big ask. We have good players and they don't become bad overnight. Something is amiss this year. BreffniGuide (Cavan) - Posts: 474 - 11/07/2021 09:38:24 2358475 Link 0 |
Everyone in Cavan is playing GAA. There is literally no other sport for Gaelic Football to compete with in any meaningful sense, no rugby, no soccer, no hurling. Gaelic footbal has a vitrual monopoly on sport in Cavan, and that is not a good thing. Here's why. The problem with Cavan GAA is that they have had it too good for too long when it comes to a playing pool. If we encourage youngsters to play other sports to the detriment of football, it might finally spur those responsible into taking the necessary structural measures needed to produce good teams. I have said it before, and I'll keep saying it, if you want to look at the reality of Cavan football, look at the results of our clubs in the Ulster club championship. The truth is the standard in the county is very poor. We have buried our heads in the sand for decades and hoped that something might happen, which it did in 2020, but that was a flash in the pan, and normal service has resumed.
