Cavan Club Championships 2018

Seems the only time we get posters posting here is when the Gaels are beaten.
No word at all about Ramor losing.
As I said previously the Gaels haven't been playing well this championship a blind man could see that so it's not really a big surprise they put.
Crosserlough to me have the makings of champions.

I dont see any Ramor people on here claiming they wont be touched by an other team, will win Ulster etc etc.

I think any tewm that is left have a great chance of winning it but if inwas bettting i would be backing lacken if they get everyone recovered . All in all its been a good championship. I hope the county bored keeps playing games in club grounds and keeps all matxhes out of breffni except semi and finals .
Anyone know what happened at castlerahan game near the end or was it just hand bags .

After the weekends results its great to see to some fresh names in the semi finals. It shows some promising times for clubs to challenge the regular contenders at the top of the club championship.

Crosserlough came through the right end of a good game with Ramor and I can only see them getting better with such a young team.

Gowna were brilliant against the Gaels and fully deserved their win. The semi final between them and Crosserlough should be a cracker and I have no doubt either team would do well in the final.

Castlerahan won a game they were expected to and will be clear favourites now that the Gaels and Ramor are out.

Lavey vs Lacken was a dull affair and I thought Lavey were hard done by the ref. Whoever wins this will be underdogs in the semi but I have a funny feeling Lacken will win with Niall Mc Kiernan back this week and anything can happen from their.

All in all its wide open and I expect a few more twists and turns before the cups lifted.

Was at the Castlerahan K'scourt game Saturday.

Castlerahan looked good enough in spite of butchering several goal chances. Big & powerful round the middle with Cormac Daly doing a lot of harm running from defence also.

Mackey looks in good form and everything still does go through him though. So perhaps if he was shackled, they can be stopped but I would have them as worthy favourites now although previous years where they should have won could stick in their mind the closer they get to the winning line.

Kingscourt very poor and it looks like the end of the road for that team now.

I would have Gowna and Xlough as the challengers. The other two could take another scalp but I don't see them winning. Was also talking to a few neutrals that were at the Lavey Lacken and they were of the opinion that Lavey were robbed by the ref and turned down several blatant penalties & frees.

The Gaels result didn't really surprise me either. There was talk of all not being well in the camp since Jayo declared his interest in the county team and their forward looked much less threatening than last year in personnel.

Xlough the value bet now @4/1 with Castlerahan a scabby Even money with Paddy Power.

It's Gowna or Crosserlough for me.
Two good young footballing teams hitting form at the right time. Castlerahan peaked for the League final, Lavey have once again over achieved but shows the level of Lacken.

Will Niall Mc Kiernan be back? I thought hamstring injuries usually result in a at least 4 weeks out?

I agree with you about keeping matches at club grounds but unfortunately I expect there will be a drop in gate returns this year.

I'm just going by the last day. I didn't think he was togged out but when the game was a draw with 10 mins left he was stripped down and looked ready to come on. The selectors obviously didn't chance it when they went a point up again but I expect him to feature at some stage this weekend if the games in the melting pot again.

I actually don't believe there will be a drop in gate returns. Be interesting to see if there is.

Not much. Kingscourt very defensive, and a bit of off the ball rubbish, no punching just rubbish, but the referee failed to deal with it. Brief skirmish on the sideline near the end, just pushing and shoving. It started off the field, and then players got involved. There was nothing after the game, Castlerahan stayed on the field doing a warm down, and Kingscourt just went to the dressing room.

Castlerahan full value for the win, but missed a lot of chances.....Kingscourt very defensive

Yes for sure it will be interesting but I fear the gate returns will be well down.
However with the gaels now gone there may well be a bumper crowed at the final.
Park not ready yet but it will not be the gaels that will be playing on the new pitch thats for sure.

Gate receipts are in line with last year. With all the draws the weekend they might be up by end and I think more people will be at finals because of novel final pairings and the high standard this year. I heard someone saying that perhaps clubs should get more than 50 euro with the amount of club officials helping out doing different jobs. They county board for example are down the cost of car park attendants.

Without the volunteers the organisation would fall apart. The silent workers.

As long as it makes your day that the Gaels are not in the final that's all that matters.
Your own club Killygarry didn't fair too well either but your obsession with the rights and wrongs of the Gaels overshadows that.

If you do your homework you will find my club did a great job this weekend believe it or not. I have never been involved with Killygarry truth neither with Drumalee or the Bridge so as usual you got it wrong again. Why don't you ask the county secretary what club I am a member off I am sure he will tell you. One thing I will tell you I am a fully paid up member of a senior club in CAvan yes a senior club so that makes it easier for you to find out what club I am with.

I was speaking to a member of a club that hosted a senior games this week , they reckon the club made about 1000 euro between the shop and lotto tickets , i think the games outside breffni are fantastic for clubs to host , most clubs have great parking and great stand . All in all i think club venues are brilliant .
