So be weary of the wounded team. Remember Waterford????"
Honestly this isn't a possible banana skin for Cavan. they're playing a serious serious outfit here and if there did happen to be complacency here then they need a serious reminder of their standing in Gaelic football currently. So i don't think complacency will be an issue. it makes me squirm just writing that word. Tipperary will die with their boots on and thats what they done last year on several occasions on the way to a semi final. Cavan need to do the same. If they do then their more than good enough to beat tipp. if they don't and continue with the slow build up low intensity game then tipperary will beat them. the time has come for cavan to go out and do a Down!!!

First of all i'm a big supporter and positive thinker when it comes to cavan. i don't like ridicule etc. however he is right in his point. they won't beat tipp on the previous 2 games and i wouldn't want them stumbling past tipp playing like they did the last two games. I want to see Cavan do what they done against Derry in 2013 and Kerry and Mayo in the league

Maybe my comment was a bit harsh, you would just get fed up of negativeity all the time, we are still in qualifiers and have the potential to go further and gain experience for both players and management for an assault on Ulster next year,

Replying To SamuraiBlue:  "Yeah we definitely can't get Monaghan in the next round, IF we manage to get past Tipp.
So the most likely run in for us would be Tipp, then Armagh or Carlow/Leitrim, and then it would be a game against Down to reach to quarter finals, assuming Monaghan also come through with us, and Down lose to Tyrone.
All very winnable games but at the same time nothing easy.
Just need to worry about Tipp for now anyway."
I therefore suggest - at least whilst the wheels remain on our respective wagons - that we agree to meet again in the AI semi final.

Why not ?

To use the almost forgotten phrase of our manager "we want a performance and the result will look after itself".

Members say they like that team but as usual one has to accept what is put on our plate.
I wonder had Ryan Connolly (Drumlane) shot gone into the back of the net against Monaghan instead of hitting the angle would we be talking about him like we do Jason since 1997. For it was a wonderful shot and he was so unlucky. Has Niall Murray played at center half back before I cannot remember him doing so. This is a very responsible position. I look at the 15 and ask myself do all 15 deserve to start Saturday well on performances I would say no. Again I will be lambasted for saying so but come on let's call a spade a spade. The one good thing off course we can use five subs lets hope by choice and by black cards.
I hope we win and the bookies don't normally get it wrong with the price they have on both teams Cavan are huge favorites.

dont forget to put '' good'' in front of the word performance! :p however they are good players so a good or excellent performance would see them beat a lot of teams

1) had ryans shot gone in v monaghan we would not be talking about him like we do about jason. Jason was a regular goalscorer for us Ryan is a long way off that.
2) Niall Murray has played at centre back on numerous occasions for cavan gaels in fact since eamon reilly retired he has played most of his football there & is no stranger to the position.
3) 6 subs are allowed to be used

Conor Sweeney will take watching, hope Mc Loughlin is up for it.
This will be a big test for the Cavan team but if they are focused and everyone does his job then we will win.
A poor enough Louth team beat them in the league in Thurles.

As far as I know - in the League game against Galway last year the starting 15 were from 15 different clubs plus the 5 subs we used were from 5 other different clubs - so twenty clubs represented out of 40 -

Breffni81, Are you sure Jason was a regular goalscorer for us prior to the 1997 final. If so why was he only a sub that day. He was also a sub in the semi-final against Kerry. Did he play against Fermanagh and Donegal in the ulster championship in 1997 ?.

Is Gerry Smith injured ? .

Your right with that , only difference to the team is the inside forward line , which is very similar with size and strength . I think Mattie got it right this time or very close too , I'd exspect to win by 6 points +

Jason became a goal scorer for cavan after 97 that would have been one of his first goals for cavan, he said in on interview after Ulster final that wee Martin told him coming on if he got the chance keep it on the carpet, he did score lots of goals for 21,s in 96
