Formerly of Mullyambly, Tommy Hughes passed away in England in January 2009 at the age of 86. In his youth, he played football with Wateraughey before emigrating to America, and subsequently with Lacken Celtic whenever he returned on holiday. With Lacken, he was renowned for his natural fitness and lightning speed. Members of Lacken GFC provided a Guard of Honour at his funeral in St Michael's, Potahee.
