Both the Ballyhaise and Redhills clubs formed a Guard of Honour in conjunction for the funeral of Austin Boyle after his death in February. Austin passed away at our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda after a long illness and had been a fond supporter of both neighbouring clubs. He married his wife Mary in 1973 and they spent 39 happy years together before an illness claimed her life in December 2012 at the age of 61. Sadly, Austin was diagnosed with the same sickness as his late wife in March 2013, but despite the setback he continued to sell lotto envelopes for both Ballyhaise and Redhills in the village, as well as in the Stray Sod in Drung. His funeral took place at St Brigid's Church, Killoughter.
