Maisie passed in February at Cavan General Hospital, shortly after her 83rd birthday. Born in the town land of Creighanroe near Castleblayney, Maisie moved to Shercock in 1950 to work in the Duffy family business on Main Street. She married her husband Owen and reared six children. The death of their eldest son Francis in 1963 was a terrible loss and her husband would pass away 13 years later. She was always devoted to her family, loved Gaelic football and was a great supporter of the Cavan team. Maisie's funeral took place at St Patrick's Church and she is survived by her daughters Mary and Breedge, sons Patrick, Philip and Sean, along with 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
