John P passed away at Cavan General Hospital on January 16 at the noble age of 98 years, having enjoyed a long life. He had a strong interest in sport, particularly football and greyhound racing, and spent many years breeding and racing his own greyhounds. Gowna GAA formed a guard of honour at his funeral mass at the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna, to help pay its respects. John P is survived by his son Joe and daughters Mary and Peg, as well as his sister Peg and son-in-law Bernard.
