Jim was an outstanding goalkeeper with both his local side Denn and the Cavan minor team during the early 1940s. Like many young men of his generation, he moved to England and built up a highly successful electrical business. He and his late wife Gwen came to live in Ballinagh in 1984. Jim was also an accomplished handball player.
