Fay, Michael

Michael 'Mick' Fay of Coragh Lower, Killeshandra passed away on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017. He was highly regarded within the local club and across the county for the tremendous work he did promoting gaelic games over the years. He togged out for the Leaguers from when the club reformed in the 1960s into the mid-70s and went on to manage teams at all levels. Assuming the reins of the seniors in 1982, he was an outstanding mentor, guiding the club from Division Three to Division One and also leading them to junior and intermediate championship honours between 1983 and '86. Michael managed into the 1990s and then took a break before returning in 1997 to lead Killeshandra to a league title. He continued to support the club with great enthusiasm after stepping aside and took great joy from the 2013 intermediate championship success. A massive attendance of club members - including players, former players and committee members - at Mick's funeral underlined the high esteem in which he is held by Killeshandra Leaguers GAA.
