Andy McEntee is set for a return to inter-county management after being nominated for the role of new Longford senior football manager.
The Nobber native takes charge of the Midlanders following a spell with Monaghan under now former manager Gabriel Bannigan during the 2025 season, having previously managed Meath and Antrim at inter-county level.
McEntee guided the Royals to promotion to Division 1 of the Allianz Football League in 2019 and led the Saffrons to consecutive Tailteann Cup semi-finals during his tenures in each county.
He also enjoyed success at club level with Ballyboden St Enda’s, guiding the Dublin side to the All-Ireland senior glory in 2016.
McEntee replaces Mike Solan, who departed to take charge of Offaly after guiding Longford to promotion from Division 4 of the Allianz League this past season.
A statement from Longford county board this afternoon reads as follows:
“Following the conclusion of an extensive selection process, the committee put in place to find the next Longford Senior Football manager made its recommendation to the Management and Finance Committee this afternoon.
“The Management Committee will, at the next County Board meeting, be recommending the appointment of Andy McEntee as the next manager of the Longford Senior Football Team on a three year term.
