
Westmeath got their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign up and running this afternoon with an impressive 1-22 to 0-15 victory over London in Ruislip this afternoon.
The Lake men were 0-7 to 0-6 ahead when Eoin Keyes registered their goal in the 25th minute and the points of Keyes (2), David Williams and Eamonn Cunneen had them up by six points at the half.
Williams and Cunneen extended the visitors’ lead to eight early on in the resumption and, while London got points back from Jack Morrissey and Oran Donnelly, the scores of Williams and Josh Coll ensured the double-digit win for Westmeath.

In the Christy Ring Cup, Wicklow edged out Derry on a 2-12 to 1-14 scoreline in Aughrim to get off the mark in the third-tier competition.
Padraig Doyle registered an early goal for the hosts, but it was Derry that took in a 0-10 to 1-6 lead at the break before hitting the net through Shea Cassidy in the 50th minute.
The Garden men battled back and got their second goal via Jack Doyle with 10 minutes remaining and, in the end, it was Fionn Darcy’s point that made the difference.
Kerry made it two wins from two by handing Donegal a 5-18 to 2-22 defeat in Tralee.
After having conceded an early Josh Cronnolly McGee goal, the home side got two goals apiece from Kevin Goulding and Padraig Boyle before Boyle completed his hat-trick with three minutes left in normal time.

Tyrone also found the net five times in their Nickey Rackard Cup second round clash against Mayo in Castlebar.
An electric start saw the Red Hands firing in four goal in the opening 10 minutes, with Turlough Mullin (2), Shea Munrone and Niall McGarel raising green flags before McGarel goaled again in the 26th minute as the visitors went on to record their second win in as many games.
In the Lory Meagher Cup, Leitrim and Longford each picked up their second wins of the campaign this afternoon.
Leitrim proved to strong for Lancashire (2-26 to 2-15) at Páirc na hÉireann, where Colm Canning and Daniel Miller grabbed the winners’ goals, while Longford inflicted a 4-24 to 3-12 at the same venue later in the day.
In Clones, Monaghan were convincing in a 3-22 to 1-15 win against neighbours Cavan as they got off the mark in the fifth tier.
Niall Arthur hit 1-14 for Farney men, including their first goal 12 minutes in, with Niall Garland and Ethan Flynn also bagging majors for the victors.
