Shane Walsh came up trumps once more as Galway salvaged a 1-18 to 1-18 draw against Tyrone this afternoon to maintain their place at the top of the Division 1 table in the Allianz Football League.
Tyrone came to Tuam in sore need of points to try and leapfrog Kerry, who lost to Mayo yesterday, in the table and move out of the relegation spots.
Malachy O’Rourke’s side looked good early, netting through ace attacker Darragh Canavan in the ninth minute and they’d see a Peter Harte penalty saved two minutes afterwards.
Playing against the breeze for the opening 35 minutes, the Connacht champions would eventually get motoring and it saw the sides going in level (0-11 to 1-8) come half-time.

A pair of Mark Bradley points would help move the Red Hands four in front during the third quarter, but they’d concede a penalty for Walsh to tuck low past Niall Morgan and level it up again for the hosts.
It was anybody’s game down the home stretch and a two-pointer from Mattie Donnelly looked to have secured as many points for Tyrone until the long-range specialist Walsh sailed over his free from the ground at the death to snatch a point for Padraic Joyce’s men.
