Peter Harte has described winning an Ulster club football title with his beloved Errigal Ciaran as ‘special’.
The veteran campaigner has done it and won it all with Tyrone, but last Sunday’s victory over Kilcoo was possibly the sweetest.
“This might trump everything. I said to ‘Rio’ (Ciaran Quinn) there, we’ve been together since we were six years old, and to win with those boys is unbelievably special,” the 34-year-old told reporters.
“It’s hard to compute in your head. A sea of Errigal people who have been with us since we were six years old, it’s just unreal and so special.”
On a day when the Canavan brothers were surprisingly held to just one point between them, wing back Peter Óg McCartan emerged as the unlikely match winner.
“Everybody just keeps finding ways to get a score and eke out wins. Eleven points (1-8) won it today – that’s just Ulster club football typified,” Harte added.
