James Carr has been ruled out of Mayo's All-Ireland SFC Round 1 clash with Cavan on Saturday week with a knee issue.

The injury-plagued attacker has undergone knee surgery to repair damaged cartilage. Carr's only appearance this season came as a substitute against Monaghan in the opening round of the Allianz League.

Mayo GAA said: "James Carr had a knee procedure today following assessments by the Mayo Medical team for a meniscal injury. He will commence rehab shortly and we look forward to his return in the coming weeks.”
