Longford opened their 2024 Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 4 campaign with a 1-6 to 2-14 defeat to Fermanagh in Donagh last Sunday.

To compound matters, it’s the first of five successive away games they will play in the basement division, which they were relegated to last year. They travel to Kilkenny next Sunday, January 21, Carlow on Sunday, January 28, Limerick on Sunday, February 11 and Derry on Sunday, February 18. That's five away games in succession in a seven game schedule.

The midlanders’ first home game is in Round 6 against Wicklow on Sunday, February 25. That is followed by the visit of neighbours Leitrim on Sunday, March 3.

Meanwhile, Carrickedmond’s Caoimhe McCormack has been named as Longford ladies captain for 2024 with Grace Kenny (Longford Slashers) and Niamh Brady (Killoe) as vice-captains.
