Offaly continued in their pursuit of retaining the Leinster U20 football championship crown last night by hammering Carlow at Faithful Fields.
Keith O’Neill, Darragh Flynn, John Furlong and Eoin Murphy struck the goals in a 4-13 to 0-6 win for holders which marks their second victory after two games having defeated Louth last time out.
In Parnell Park, Dublin were 1-15 to 1-10 winners over Westmeath as they turned around an early seven-point deficit in the second-half.
Ryan O’Dwyer’s goal four minutes into the restart breathed new life into the capital lads and points from the same player, Fionn Murray and Luke Breathnach would lead them towards the five-point victory.
Eoin Bagnall struck the winning point in Hawkfield as Kildare edged a 2-16 to 3-11 win over Laois.
The Lilywhites made the perfect start that saw them 1-3 to nothing up after Dean O’Donoghue’s goal but, despite Daniel Lynam netting another for them, they’d concede three majors to the visitors from Paddy Hosey, Darren McEvoy and Sean Fitzpatrick, which meant Bagnall’s late point was required to secure the win.
It means Kildare now face Offaly at the competition’s semi-final stage next Thursday in Tullamore, with the other last four pairing yet to be confirmed.
