Feargal Logan is glad that Niall Morgan isn’t among the group of GAA goalkeepers taking part in the NFL’s International Player Pathway training camp next month.

Monaghan’s Rory Beggan, Wicklow’s Mark Jackson and Charlie Smyth from Down, along with former Ireland U20 rugby full back Darragh Leaders, are hoping to impress scouts from all 32 NFL teams with their place-kicking skills after impressing during a two-stage selection process at Loughborough University in the UK and Dublin last November.

Morgan also took part in the trials, but much to Logan’s relief, didn’t make the cut.

"God bless the NFL that Niall's not sitting out in America, lads, because for my money he's one of the best footballers and indeed, the best goalkeeper," the Tyrone joint-manager told RTÉ after his side’s Allianz Football League opening round victory over Roscommon,

"He's amongst the top of them (goalkeepers) but he had a super performance today and we're just so glad that Niall's stayed with it and he showed his value today under high balls, breaking out.

"He's a super footballer, whatever about a goalkeeper, so we're just so glad that he's here."
