Defending champions Mohill got off to a flier in the opening game of Leitrim senior football championship defence yesterday after seeing off Dromahair by 3-17 to 0-7 in Glencar.

The holders had minimal fuss in securing the impressive 19-point victory at St Osnat’s, while Friday evening saw last year’s runners up St Mary’s, Kiltoghert making their goals count in a 3-8 to 0-14 victory over Fenagh/St Caillin’s, with Aughawillan also edging Annaduff by 0-14 to 0-13 on the day.

21-time winners Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s came from six points down to defeat hosts Leitrim Gaels (2-17 to 3-11) yesterday evening while Gortetteragh and Glencar/Manorhamilton shared the points on a 1-12 to 0-15 scoreline.
