James Burke, who was James Horan's right-hand man in Mayo for the past four years, will coach the Cavan footballers in 2023.
Part of Ray Dempsey's proposed backroom team which lost out to the Kevin McStay-led management in the recent Mayo managerial race, Burke replaces Martin Corey in the Cavan coaching role. The Ardnaree man will join Ryan McMenamin, Seanie Johnston, John Denning and manager Mickey Graham, who were ratified for another two years at last night's Cavan county board meeting.
Ollie Bellew was also appointed as the new Cavan senior hurling manager.
