Former Cork star Patrick Horgan struck for 1-11 as Glen Rovers booked their place in the semi-finals of the county Premier senior hurling championship with a 2-21 to 1-20 win over Charleville.

TG4’s cameras were in Mallow to catch all the action from this afternoon’s early quarter-final tie in the Rebel County, with the winners having fallen 0-8 to 0-4 behind during the opening quarter before Simon Kennefick’s goal brought them right back into contention.

Horgan’s goal in the 18th minute would surge Rovers 2-5 to 0-8 in front and they’d go on to hold a five-point advantage at the break.

Eight unanswered points either side of half-time saw Tomàs Mulcahy's men in the driving seat, with scores by Robert O’Carroll and Darragh Fitzgibbon seeing Charleville trim their deficit to half a dozen in the latter stages before Conor Buckley netted what proved to be a consolation goal for them in injury-time.

The other two last eight clashes in the Cork Premier SHC this afternoon see Kanturk taking on holders Sarsfields in Mallow (4pm) and Imokilly up against St Finbarrs in Midleton (4.30pm).
