There was a very rare occurrence in Westmeath last weekend when five brothers officiated at an IHC game.

St Oliver Plunkett’s referee Rob Cornally was joined by his brothers and umpires David, Alan, William and Eoghan for the game between neighbours Clonkill and Turin at St Loman’s Dovida Park which the former won on a 5-15 to 2-15 scoreline. The Cornally siblings are steeped in the GAA with their late parents Rob Snr and Detty having given years of sterling service to Mullingar Shamrocks.

Detty, who passed away just over a year ago, was also synonymous with the promotion of Scór in the Westmeath county town.
